قصة النبي يوسف عليه السلام
A story about forgiveness, patience, and trusting Allah's plan. Learn how Yusuf forgave his brothers after everything they did.
Yusuf was a beautiful baby, loved by his father Yaqub. His father had eleven brothers. Yusuf was the youngest. One night, Yusuf had a dream. He saw the sun, the moon, and eleven stars bowing down to him. He told his father about the dream. His father understood that Allah was showing Yusuf something special. But Yusuf's brothers did not like that. They became jealous because their father loved Yusuf more.
The brothers planned a terrible thing. They decided to get rid of Yusuf. They threw him into a deep well and left him there. Then they went home and told their father that a wolf had eaten Yusuf. Their father cried and cried. But Yusuf was not alone in the well. Allah was with him. A traveling caravan passed by and sent someone to get water. When they pulled the bucket up, they found Yusuf. They sold him for a very small price in Egypt.
In Egypt, Yusuf was bought by a high official. The official's wife, Zulaikha, saw how beautiful and kind Yusuf was. She tried to make Yusuf do wrong things, but Yusuf refused. He was honest and said, "I seek refuge in Allah. It is not right for me to betray my master." One day, the men of the city saw Yusuf and admired him so much that they cut their hands. But Yusuf remained patient and faithful to Allah.
Yusuf was put in prison because of a lie. He did not deserve it. But even in prison, Yusuf stayed patient. He used his time wisely. He told the prisoners about Allah and taught them good things. Two prisoners came to Yusuf with a problem. They had each had a dream and wanted to know what it meant. Yusuf explained the dreams to them. One dream meant the prisoner would be freed, and the other meant the prisoner would not.
Years passed. The king of Egypt had a strange dream and asked for help understanding it. The freed prisoner remembered Yusuf and told the king about him. Yusuf was brought out of prison. He explained the dream perfectly: there would be seven years of good harvests, followed by seven years of famine. The king was so impressed that he made Yusuf in charge of storing food. Yusuf became the most powerful man in Egypt, after the king himself.
When the famine came, Yusuf's brothers came to Egypt to buy food. They did not recognize Yusuf. But Yusuf recognized them. His brothers had thrown him into a well and told their father he was dead. Yusuf could have been angry. But instead, he forgave them completely. He said, "There is no blame on you today. May Allah forgive you. He is the Most Merciful of the merciful." Then he sent his shirt to his father, and his father's eyesight was restored.
