A story about patience, turning back to Allah, and hope. Learn how Prophet Yunus trusted Allah through the darkest storm.
A long, long time ago, Allah chose a kind and patient man to be a messenger. His name was Yunus. He lived in a land called Nineveh, a big city full of people. Yunus loved Allah very much and wanted to share that love with everyone. He stood in the streets and told the people about Allah. He asked them to pray and be kind. But the people did not listen. They were too busy with their own things.
Day after day, Prophet Yunus spoke to the people. He told them about the One who made the stars, the sea, and the mountains. He asked them to stop being unkind to each other. But the people laughed. They did not believe. They thought Yunus was wasting their time. This made Yunus very sad. He had given them so many chances, but they still did not want to change.
Yunus became so upset that he left the city. He walked to the sea and got on a ship. The ship sailed far into the ocean. But then a huge storm came. The waves grew taller than mountains. The sky turned dark. The ship rocked and shook. The people on the ship were very scared. They drew lots to see who should be thrown into the sea to calm the storm. And the lot fell on Yunus.
Yunus fell into the deep, dark sea. The waves pulled him down and down. Then something enormous opened its mouth. A great whale swallowed Yunus whole. Inside the whale was dark and cold. Yunus was scared and alone. But he did not forget Allah. He remembered the prayer his mother taught him. And he called out to Allah with all his heart.
Inside the whale, Yunus made a beautiful prayer. He said: "There is no god but You. Glory be to You. I have been one of the wrongdoers." This was a prayer of honesty and hope. Yunus knew he had made mistakes. He turned back to Allah with a sincere heart. And Allah heard him. Allah is the Most Merciful. He commanded the whale to release Yunus. And Yunus was thrown onto the shore, weak and sick. Allah even made a tree grow over him to give him shade. When Yunus recovered, he felt peace in his heart again.
Prophet Yunus taught us that it is never too late to turn back to Allah. Even when things feel dark and scary, Allah is always listening. We should never give up hope. When we make mistakes, we should say sorry with a sincere heart. Allah is Al-Ghafur — the Most Forgiving. And Allah is Ar-Raheem — the Most Merciful.
It is never too late to turn back to Allah. No matter what mistake you have made, Allah is always ready to forgive you.
