قصة بني إسرائيل والعجل
A story about obedience and listening to Allah's commands. Learn how Bani Israel were told to sacrifice a cow but refused.
After the time of Prophet Musa, Bani Israel (the Children of Israel) lived in the land. Allah gave them many blessings and miracles. But sometimes they were disobedient. Allah would tell them to do something, and they would refuse or make it difficult. They would ask too many questions and make excuses. This taught the Muslims an important lesson about obedience.
A man from Bani Israel was murdered. The people did not know who did it. They came to Prophet Musa and asked for help. Musa said, "Slaughter a cow." But instead of doing it right away, they started asking questions. "What kind of cow?" "What color?" "What age?" They made it so complicated that the simple command became hard.
Musa became frustrated. He said, "Allah says it should be a cow that is neither too old nor too young, but middle aged. Do what you are told." But they still asked more questions. "What color?" "What should it do?" They made Allah's command into something complicated. This is a warning for all of us — when Allah tells us to do something, we should do it with obedience, not with too many questions.
Finally, they found the right cow. It was a yellow cow, bright in color, pleasing to the beholders. They slaughtered it, but they were still lazy about it. They dragged the cow's body and hit it with parts of it. This made the miracle happen — the dead man came back to life! Allah showed them that obedience brings miracles, while laziness and disobedience bring nothing.
The People of the Cow taught us that when Allah tells us to do something, we should do it with obedience and a good attitude. We should not make things complicated or ask too many questions. And we should do things with care and attention, not with laziness.
When Allah tells you to do something, do it with obedience and a good attitude.
