A story about courage and trusting Allah. Learn how the Muslims faced a much larger army with only faith and trust in Allah.
The Muslims of Madinah had been preparing for a trade journey. But the Quraysh of Makkah heard about it and sent a large army to stop them. The Muslims were near a place called Badr when they learned that the army was coming. The Muslims were outnumbered — they had only about 313 men, while the Quraysh had over 1000. But the Muslims were not afraid. They trusted in Allah.
The night before the battle, the Muslims prayed and made dua. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ raised his hands and asked Allah for help. He prayed so intensely that his cloak fell off his shoulders. He said, "O Allah, if this small group perishes, there will be no one left on earth to worship You." Allah heard his prayer. Allah sent down sleep and peace into the hearts of the believers.
On the day of Badr, the Muslims faced a much larger army. But they had something the Quraysh did not — faith. The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah, I ask You to fulfill Your promise. O Allah, if this small group perishes, there will be no one left to worship You." Then Allah sent down sleep and tranquility into the hearts of the believers. And when the battle began, Allah sent angels — thousands of them — to help the Muslims.
The Muslims fought bravely. They were smaller in number, but they were strong in faith. And Allah gave them victory. The Quraysh were defeated and many were captured. The Muslims learned a very important lesson that day: when you trust in Allah, you never have to be afraid. Even when the whole world is against you, if Allah is with you, you will win.
The Battle of Badr taught us that faith is stronger than numbers. When we trust in Allah, we are never truly alone. Allah will always help those who believe in Him.
